PE Timetable

Term 1 2017/2018

*Special activities

Please send your child to school wearing their PE kit when they are scheduled to have PE.

 

Year 5/6

Aspen, Willow & Maple- Wednesday & Friday

*Aspen, Willow & Maple will receive a physical literacy program called ‘We Love Sport’ delivered by coaches from Bristol Forever Sport each Friday morning during Term 1 beginning on 15/9/17.

 

Year 4

Sycamore & Juniper- Wednesday & Thursday

*Both Sycamore & Juniper will have Tag Rugby delivered by coaches from Bristol Forever Sport each Thursday afternoon during Term 1 beginning 14/9/17.

 

Year 3

Kauri & Hawthorn- Tuesday & Friday

*Kauri will swim at Hengrove Leisure Park each Friday afternoon during Term 1 beginning on 8/9/17 meaning they need swimming kit. Hawthorn will swim each Friday afternoon during Term 2.

 

Year 2

Cedar- Tuesday & Thursday

Chestnut- Tuesday & Friday

*Chestnut will visit the City of Bristol Gymnastics Centre each Friday afternoon during Term 1 beginning on 15/9/17. Cedar will visit the City of Bristol Gymnastics Centre each Friday afternoon during Term 2.

 

Year 1

Ash- Wednesday & Friday

Silver Birch- Monday & Friday

*Ash will have Dance sessions delivered by Wendy Harry each Friday afternoon during Term 1 beginning on 22/9/17. Silver Birch will have Dance sessions delivered by Wendy Harry each Friday afternoon during Term2.

 

Reception

Oak & Beech- Wednesday (Please note that the children in Reception will start wearing their PE kit to school from Term 2 onward)

*Both Oak & Beech are to have cycling sessions (using Balance Bikes) delivered by Sole Cycling in Term 1. Reception children will also take part in yoga sessions on Monday's.

Swimming

 

The children in Y3/4 swim on Friday afternoons at Hengrove Leisure Park. If your child is going swimming they will need: a swimming costume/ trunks above the knee, a towel and goggles. Long hair will need to be tied back. 

Term 1: Kauri Class (Y3)

Term 2: Hawthorn Class (Y3)

Term 3: Juniper Class (Y4)

Term 4: Sycamore (Y4)

Term 5: Catch up swimming 

Term 6: Catch up swimming

 

The National Curriculum states that pupils should be taught to:

  • swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres
  • use a range of strokes effectively [for example, front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke]
  • perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations

 

Should your child still be working towards obtaining these skills after completing Y4, they will be invited to continue going swimming in Y5/6. 

Gymnastics

 

If your child is in Y2, Y4 and Y6  they will visit The City of Bristol Gymnastics Centre in order to complete a six week block of gymnastics sessions.  In order to participate they will be required to wear their PE kit.

Term 1: Chestnut Class (Y2)

Term 2: Cedar Class (Y2)

Term 3: Year 6

Term 4: Year 6

Term 5: Juniper (Y4) 

Term 6: Sycamore (Y4)

 

The children in Reception will receive specialist gymnastics sessions from Bristol Forever Sport coaches in school during Term 5.
