PE Kit & Outdoor Learning 2025/2026

Most classes, but not all, also have Outdoor Learning timetabled- the timetable may vary throughout the year. If this is the case, your child should wear their PE kit but also bring a pair of wellies/ old shoes and waterproofs to school. Most of the time, your child will have a separate PE lesson and Outdoor Learning session within the same day. Please note that we do hold a stock of waterproofs and wellies for families that may find the cost prohibitive.

P.E Uniform

• Red T-shirt with Birdwell logo or plain.

• Red sweatshirt with Birdwell logo or plain.

• Black jogging bottoms, black leggings or black shorts – Please note that these must be plain. Logos or football badges are not acceptable.

• Sports trainers (any colour). Please note in reception these must be Velcro or self fastening. No laces.

Swimming

The children in Y4, Y5 & Y6 will have their turn to swim on Wednesday afternoons at Backwell Leisure Centre. If your child is going swimming they will need: a swimming costume/ trunks above the knee, a towel and goggles. Long hair will need to be tied back.

The National Curriculum states that pupils should be taught to:

• swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres
• use a range of strokes effectively [for example, front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke]
• perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations
