Can my child be given medicine during the school day?

If your child has been prescribed medicine and they need to take a dose during the school day, we can administer it, provided you complete and sign a consent form.

If the medication is for short-term use, for example a course of antibiotics, you will need to complete a Parental Consent to Administer Medicines form. This should be brought to the school office along with the medication.

If the medication is for a long term condition, such as asthma inhalers, epilepsy medications etc, an Individual Healthcare Plan will be required giving full details of the condition and how it should be managed at school. Where appropriate, you may be asked to attend a meeting with a member of the school team.

Both forms can be found below.
